We are excited to share a recent feature highlighting the work of Prof. Thomas Schlichthärle, member of the BioSysteM – Cluster of Excellence.
His team uses artificial intelligence to develop custom-designed proteins that precisely control cells and activate them in a targeted way. These approaches open new possibilities in synthetic biology and organoid research, helping scientists study diseases in more realistic models, explore new therapeutic methods, and test novel drugs.
This work closely aligns with BioSysteM’s interdisciplinary mission, which brings together biology, chemistry, engineering, and medicine to understand, design, and build functional biomolecular systems.
