With the support of BioSysteM, the iGEM Munich student team recently welcomed 10 high school students from the greater Munich area to their SynBio Summer School.
Over the course of three days, the high school students explored synthetic biology and molecular life sciences. They gained hands-on experience in molecular biology, gene expression analysis and mitochondrial research, alongside inspiring scientific guest lectures.
The event allowed the high school students to learn about basic laboratory workflows and terminology in synthetic biology and provided career orientation. It is part of iGEM Munich’s education and outreach program.
iGEM is the world’s biggest competition in synthetic biology. Each year, hundreds of multidisciplinary student teams design, build, test, and present ambitious research projects. With a dedicated award, iGEM celebrates innovative educational and outreach activities in synthetic biology.
Many thanks to iGEM Munich for organizing this fantastic outreach event!
