AI Core Unit
Data-Driven Biosystems Design
Modern AI methods are embedded at all levels of BioSysteM research. From protein design and spatial pattern mining to automated analysis of complex experiments, the AI Core Unit empowers researchers to harness data science for engineering biology.
An important aspect of the BioSysteM effort is the accurate organization, harmonization, and exchange of research data that will fuel the application of data-hungry machine learning approaches. Apart from research data, defining standards and databases for experimental protocols and biosystem designs will be of critical importance for the establishment of the Munich Repository of Standardized Parts and Protocols (MRSPP).
Technology Hub
The Technology Hub gives BioSysteM researchers easy access to high-end instrumentation, expert support and standardized protocols – from single-molecule imaging to organoid screening – to enable rapid design-build-test-learn cycles.
Data acquisition and storage will be directly coordinated with the cluster´s AI Core Unit and Research Data Management.

Equity and Diversity
We are committed to promote a diverse cluster community that is welcoming to all members – irrespective of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religious beliefs, physical and psychological attributes and social and cultural background – since diversity is essential for excellence in research and teaching
MORE SOONEarly Career Researchers
BioSysteM will enhance the career prespectives of junior researcher in academia and industry, while supporting their early independence and increasing their international visibility
MORE SOONSustainability
Following the ambition of the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030, the BioSysteM cluster is determined to pursue its goals in a sustainable and climate-friendly fashion assesses all measures with respect to a dedicated sustainability strategy
